In compliance with EU Regulation 2016/679 (GDPR), this page describes how Claudia Amato processes the personal data of people who visit this website, sign up to her emails or use her services.

Data Controller

The data controller is Claudia Amato, sole proprietor (P.IVA [hidden]), [hidden].

What Data I Process, and Why

Website statistics. This site uses Google Analytics 4 (GA4) to analyse traffic in aggregated, anonymised form, only if you accept analytics cookies (see below). Legal basis: your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR).

Sign-up forms (Legal English Movie Club, News Bites Early Access). When you sign up, I process your email address to send you what you asked for: the free material and the emails of the service you joined (the monthly Movie Club emails, or the weekly News Bites booking link). Legal basis: your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR).

News about 1:1 places, courses and offers. I send these emails only if you tick the optional box in the form, or confirm it later with the link in my emails. Legal basis: your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR).

Proof of consent. To be able to prove your consent, I keep the date, time and IP address of your sign-up and of your email confirmation, and the version of the text you accepted (Art. 7(1) GDPR).

Bookings, courses and payments. When you book a call, a class or a course, I process your name, email address, booking details and payment information, to provide the service and to invoice it. Legal basis: the contract (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR) and my legal obligations, for example tax and invoicing (Art. 6(1)(c) GDPR).

Customers. If you buy one of my services, I may send you emails about my similar legal English courses, to the email address you used when you booked (Art. 130(4) of the Italian Privacy Code). You can object at any time, free of charge, with the link in every email or by writing to me.

1:1 courses. You may share documents from your work. I use them only to prepare your sessions and keep them confidential. In the 1:1 Legal English Clinic, I may use AI tools to help prepare your personalised materials: before I do, I remove names, client details and anything else that could identify you or your clients, and I use tools set so that the content is not used to train them.

Who Processes Data for Me

I use trusted service providers, who process data only on my instructions: MailerLite (emails, EU), Calendly (bookings, USA), Stripe (payments), Zoom (online classes, USA), Google (email and website statistics), OVH (website hosting, EU), the AI tools mentioned above (only with anonymised content), and my accountant (invoicing).

Where data is transferred outside the EU, this happens under the EU–US Data Privacy Framework or the European Commission’s standard contractual clauses.

Cookies and Consent

Analytics cookies (Google Analytics) are installed only after your explicit consent, given via the banner shown on your first visit. You can withdraw your consent at any time using the button below.

Data Retention

Website statistics: 14 months, then deleted automatically.

Email lists: until you unsubscribe. After that, I keep only the proof of your consent and of your unsubscription, for as long as I may need to demonstrate it.

Bookings and invoices: 10 years, as required by Italian law (Art. 2220 of the Civil Code).

Your Rights

You may exercise your rights (access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, objection) at any time by writing to me at the email address below. You can withdraw your consent at any time: this does not affect what happened before. You can stop marketing emails with one click, using the link at the bottom of every email.

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Italian Data Protection Authority (Garante per la protezione dei dati personali, www.garanteprivacy.it).
